Chan Ho Park and BTS’ Suga Back Athletics With Major New Investment
The Athletics continue to build financial support for their move to Las Vegas, adding another group of well-known investors just days after announcing a separate ownership deal.
The latest investment brings together former Major League Baseball pitcher Chan Ho Park, BTS member Suga, actors Ken Jeong and Daniel Dae Kim, and other members of Team61.
The partnership not only expands the club’s investor base but also marks a historic moment for Korean representation in Major League Baseball ownership.
Team61 Invests $70 Million

Instagram | @cbssports | Team61 is investing $70M in the Athletics, committing $55M upfront with $15M pending MLB approval.
Team61 announced on Sunday that it will invest $70 million in the Athletics. The group has committed $55 million immediately, while the remaining $15 million will be added if Major League Baseball approves the transaction.
The investment makes Chan Ho Park the first Korean-born investor and owner connected to an MLB franchise. Reports also identified Ken Jeong, Daniel Dae Kim, who was born in South Korea, and Suga of the K-pop group BTS as members of the Team61 investment group.
The agreement comes less than a week after another investment announcement, showing continued financial backing for the Athletics as the franchise prepares for its long-term future in Las Vegas.
Chan Ho Park Takes on an Advisory Role
The partnership extends beyond financial investment. As part of the agreement, Chan Ho Park will become a senior adviser to Athletics owner John Fisher. His responsibilities will include advising the ownership group on player development and baseball initiatives across Asia.
Park remains one of the most influential figures in Korean baseball history. As the first Korean-born player to reach Major League Baseball, he wore jersey number 61 throughout his professional career, a number reflected in the name Team61.
Speaking about the partnership, Park said:
“During my playing career, I introduced Korea to Major League Baseball and Major League Baseball to Korean fans, and I saw firsthand how even a small point of connection can create meaningful change.”
He added:
“Korea is now a baseball powerhouse with outstanding fans and a strong player-development system. Through exchanges with Las Vegas, which is opening a new era in Major League Baseball, I hope more opportunities will be created for the next generation of players. We are grateful for this opportunity to collaborate with the Athletics to lift up Korean baseball to the next level.”
Park’s MLB Career and Legacy

Instagram | @cbssports | Across 17 seasons and seven MLB teams, All-Star pitcher Chan Ho Park logged a 124-98 record.
Chan Ho Park began his Major League career with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1994 and earned an All-Star selection in 2001. Across 17 seasons, he compiled a 124-98 record in 476 games, including 287 starts.
His career included nine seasons with the Dodgers, four with the Texas Rangers, two with the San Diego Padres, and one season each with the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies. During his final MLB season in 2010, Park split time between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Yankees.
Athletics Continue Building for Las Vegas
The Team61 investment came just days after another ownership announcement. On Thursday, Harbinger Sports Partners confirmed it had purchased a stake in the Athletics. The group did not reveal the financial terms of the deal. Harbinger’s investors include former Dallas Mavericks majority owner Mark Cuban, who still owns a minority stake in the NBA team. Atlanta Falcons minority owner Rashaun Williams is also part of the investment group.
The Athletics are playing the second of their three planned seasons in West Sacramento, California. The team will stay there while workers build its new $2 billion domed stadium on the Las Vegas Strip. If construction stays on schedule, the Athletics will move into the new ballpark in 2028.
The Team61 investment expands the Athletics’ international reach and strengthens the club’s relationship with South Korean baseball. As part of the agreement, Chan Ho Park will serve as a senior adviser, focusing on player development and baseball initiatives across Asia.
Team61 also includes BTS member Suga, actor Ken Jeong, and actor Daniel Dae Kim. Their participation adds global visibility to the franchise as it continues preparing for its future in Las Vegas.
